2006 ACHA NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP
Smooth is the best way to describe the 2006 ACHA National Championship Hunt held at Bruceville, In. this past June. Unlike our 2006 World Hunt in Atkins Ar. this past March, our numbers were down a little, but the Directors of ACHA would rather have a good small hunt than a large bad hunt.
The Knox Co. CHA did an outstanding job and Hunt Director Patrick Reynolds and his crew certainly upheld their end of the bargain. Thanks guys, you did a first rate job and I know Director and Master of Hounds Garry Hopkins appreciated your performance.
The Final Cast ended in a flurry and an unexpected turn of events at the very end made for a exciting finish. When the smoke cleared Dan Sheridan of Willow Hill, IL. pulled it out with his 6 year old Bluetick male, Jammer. He won on the second tiebreaker, most plus tree points, beating Gary Wells of Alsey, IL. and his 5 year old Walker he calls Stinger. The Wells/Stinger team has been on the Final Cast in 2 out of the last 3 major ACHA events.
Todd Martin of Silex, Mo. and his Buzz dog, a 4 year old Walker male.
Fourth went to Bawlie, a 2 year old English male owned by Tom Shanklin of Elkton, Ky.and handled by Allen Hadden also from Elkton.
Special mention should be made about the gentlemen on the final cast .... they minused their own dogs. They didn't wait for the judges to do it! True sportsmanship
Just missing the final cast and finishing 5th was Will Martin of Troy, Mo. with his Doc Holiday dog, a 3 year old Walker male. The Martin brothers, Will and Todd, along with their father Noel are among the most loyal ACHA supporters out there and we really appreciate them.
